The Features of the Memory Multihead Weigher
Depending on the model, these machines perform at a speed of up to 480 weighments per minute. The increased performance results from the fact that these machines have an equal number of memory buckets and thus more possibilities when finding combinations. The equipment of a memory multihead weigher pertains to both software and hardware levels.
In the memory buckets, no weighing takes place. Here the product quantity is only “temporarily stored” and waits for a suitable combination to complete the optimal target weight. Due to the memory function, the scale has more combination possibilities and is therefore faster and more precise.

If the amount of product in the weigh bucket (green) fits into the target combination, only the outer door opens and the product falls directly into the collection bucket.
If the amount of product in the weigh bucket (green) does not fit into a combination, the inner door opens and the product is transferred into the memory bucket (blue).
The Function of the Memory Multihead Weigher
A multihead weigher with Memory Application is equipped with an additional row of buckets. These are the so-called memory buckets.
The weighing process includes the following steps:
- The product transfer from the linear feeder pans (yellow) to the feed buckets (green).
- As soon as the weigh bucket (beige) is emptied, the feed bucket opens and releases the product into the weigh bucket.
- The central computer performs a calculation to determine whether the amount in the weigh bucket fits into a combination. If so, only the outer door opens and the product falls directly into the collection bucket. However, if the amount of product does not fit into a combination for the target weight, the inner door of the weigh bucket opens and the product is transferred into the memory bucket (blue).
- The product remains in the memory bucket until this amount fits into a combination for the target weight. Only then is it discharged. The memory buckets do not weigh product. They simply store the product and wait for the discharge signal.
